Super Bowl Recipes

The Super Bowl is the top at-home party event of the year and Americans eat more on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year besides Thanksgiving. The average number of people attending a Super Bowl party is 17.  Looks like you're going to need alot of food!

First things first. Every Super Bowl party needs to have at least some chips, preferably tortilla.  If you haven't done your shopping yet, I'd go and get a couple bags of those because you don't want to end up at the store after all the chips are gone.  Got'em? Good, let's get started.

Starting at guard, we have the Hot Crab Dip (get it? guard? crabs are scary right?).  Most newbie Super Bowl party hosts make 7 layer dip, put out some guacamole and pizza and call it night.  But a Super Bowl party at Karens Recipes is nothing short of spectacular.  The Hot Crab Dip is a variation on the ever popular artichoke dip that you see so often at restaurants these days.  Cream cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic and and some other goodies combine to make this one of the best Super Bowl appetizers you can serve.  Serve it with crackers, thin slices of bread or vegetables and it's as sure as Adam Vinateri in closing seconds of a big game.

Second, you'll need something special for all those tortilla chips.  The Southwestern Ranchero Bean Dip is a classic, it'll be gone faster than Troy Brown streaks down the sidelines on his way to a game winning touchdown.  Served with white, red, and blue corn tortilla chips, this recipe is sure to be a hit at any Patriots Super Bowl Party.

Finally, real recipe mavens don't buy salsa, they make their own.  Mom Johnson submitted this recipe for salsa. Make sure you have open minded Super Bowl party attendees because this salsa is different: corn, yellow peppers, carrots and avocado make it one of the highlights of any party.

Please make sure to root for the Patriots and we remind you to dine safely, use Karens Recipes!

Hot Crab Dip
A variation on the hot artichoke dip everyone loves. Serve with whole grained crackers. Fresh crabmeat works the best with this dip but even with canned crab this dip still tastes wonderful.

Southwestern Ranchero Bean Dip
Freshly cooked black beans make all the difference in this dip. If you're short on time, canned cooked beans will work, but the results won't be quite as good. Look for the canned chipotle chiles in adobo sauce in a Latin American grocery store or a well-stocked supermarket. Serve an assortment of white, yellow, and blue corn Fried Tortilla chips with this dip.
