MainRecipesSidedish | Picante Spinach Casserole

Picante Spinach Casserole submitted by Mom Johnson
A wonderful way to get kids to eat their spinach! Tell them Popeye made it!

Cook spinach according to package instructions. Drain well, reserving 1/2 cup cooking liquid. Cook onion in butter in a large skillet until tender, about 4 minutes. Add flour; cook and stir until bubbly. Gradually add reserved spinach liquid and milk; cook and stir until thickened. Stir in cheese; cook and stir until cheese melts. Stir in picante sauce, drained spinach and Worcestershire sauce; mix well. Transfer to a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with tortilla chips and serve with additional picante sauce. Makes 4-5 servings.
