Description
A family favorite...serve with buttery mashed potatoes to soak up the gravy and sauce. This is an old recipe...see instructions about pounding with the "edge of a saucer."
|
Directions
Cut steak into serving-size pieces; trim excess fat. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients. Pound seasoned flour into both sides of the meat with a mallet or edge of saucer. In a hot skillet, heat shortening or oil and brown meat on both sides. Add onion, pepper, and mushrooms. Blend ketchup and water and pour over steak. Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally about 2-2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Makes 6-8 servings.
