Chocolate Coconut Dessert submitted by Mom Johnson |

Description
This is my husband's favorite dessert - the one he always asks for on his birthday instead of cake. The dessert is great for large groups. Try using different kinds of ice cream - coffee or mint, etc.

Directions
In a saucepan, melt chocolate in milk. Bring to boiling; boil gently uncovered 4 minutes or until thick, stirring constantly. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Cool. In skillet, cook and stir coconut in butter until lightly browned; stir in cereal and nuts. Spread 3 cups of cereal mixture in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Cut ice cream in half lengthwise and then horizontally into 12 pieces making a total of 24 pieces. Arrange half the ice cream over the cereal and spread half the chocolate mixture. Repeat layers and then top with remaining cereal mixture. Cover and freeze until firm. Let stand at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serves 16.
