Delicious and beautiful for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner!
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium low heat. Add the breadcrumbs and almonds and cook, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and continue to cook 2 more minutes or until bread is golden and almonds are toasted and fragrant. Remove from heat; stir in chives and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss warm steamed beans in 2 T. butter or olive oil; season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer beans to a platter and sprinkle generously with the breadcrumb mixture. 8-10 servings.
3 T. butter
1 1/2 cups coarse fresh sourdough breadcrumbs
1/2 cup sliced almonds
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup sliced chives
1 1/2 pounds thin green beans
2 T. butter or olive oil
