A hearty chili that's easy to make and tastes great.
Simmer the whole mix for 30-60 minutes. (For "real" Texas Chili add more chili powder & cumin & add some cayenne.)
Serve with rice, grated cheese, chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped green onion, sliced black olives, sour cream, and tortilla chips.
1 pound ground beef (brown and drain)
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves minced garlic (add onion and garlic to drained beef and sauté together)
15 oz can diced tomatoes
8 oz can tomato sauce
15 oz can pinto beans (may sub red kidney beans, but not so authentic)
2-3 T chili powder (or more)
1/2 - 1 tsp cumin (or more)
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt (add the rest above to the first three items after they are sautéed)
